Libraries, Collections, Notes and the History of Knowledge

Prof. Dr. Anja-Silvia Goeing (Harvard/Zürich)

This PhD workshop discussed the many ways in which information contributed to the development of human societies. By focusing on early modern cabinets und curiosities, libraries, archives and the material world of knowledge in Europe, the workshop not only scrutinized the concept and reality of information in many new ways, but it also challenged commonly used interpretations of key events and developments in history by looking at them from the novel perspective of information.
